Representing Astronomy at job/education fair BEST (Vienna)

On the 5th of March 2023 I had the great pleasure of representing the astronomy department of the University of Vienna at the biggest job/education fair in Austria called BEST.

There I had the great pleasure of informing high school graduates and other prospective students about what we do in astronomy, both in the institute and our other locations. It has been great fun to talk to so many young people excited about our field of research and to convey the diversity of paths aspiring astronomy students can take. Representing astronomy at BEST (which I already did in 2022) always brings me back, since many years ago I was there looking for something to study. There I made up my mind and decided to study astronomy, so I hope that maybe I too can kindle the spark in some of the people I had the pleasure to talk to.

Oh and yes, on the screen behind me is a dinosaur. While I did not switch my studies, the booth I staffed was shared between astronomers, meteorologists and, most crucially for the image, geologists :) .
